The Bible teaches that we are to trust Jesus for everything.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
How do you hear God’s voice in order to know which paths you should walk in?
Here are 5 characteristics of God’s voice:
- God’s voice always agrees with God’s Word –God will never tell you to do something that His Word tells you not to do.
- God’s voice is always consistent-He does not change His message
- God’s voice is Persistent- If God wants you to do something He will not stop telling you to do it until you do it.
- God’s voice is always quiet never raging (1 Kings 19:12)-This is why the Bible says in 46:10a to “Be still and know that I am God…” We must be still and listen in order to hear God’s voice.
- God’s voice is always deep-meaning that God always speaks to your soul (the deepest part of you) not your emotions or intellect.
1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
We should not worry about anything, but instead pray and trust Jesus to supply what we need.
Philippians 4:6-8 “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
One thing that will help us to not worry is to think about Jesus, the Bible, and other good things instead of our problems.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
A person who truly loves God will obey God’s Word and will commit their lives to Him to further His purpose, which is to help every person to know Him.
John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Matthew 6:31-34 “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Romans 8:28 promises that all things will work together for good for a person who trusts and obeys Jesus.
