Jesus Draws Everyone To Salvation

All Are Drawn To Salvation

Jesus said in John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”

Atonement is not limited

Calvinist who say that only a chosen few can be saved are calling Jesus a liar!

Jesus said that if He was crucified He would draw all people to salvation. He’s not going to draw someone to salvation and then refuse to save them!

Here are a few more verses that show that everyone can be saved:

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”


Acts 10:43 “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”


Romans 10:11 “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Matthew 12:50 “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

1 John 5:1 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”

The evidence of this drawing is simply a desire to commit your life to Christ, not tears, or any emotion.

The Bible say that the natural person hates God and thinks salvation is foolish. They have no desire to be saved.

We cannot of our own minds just decide that we want to be saved.

Therefore, if someone wants to be saved then that means God would have to be drawing them to salvation. Because we are not even capable of even recognizing our need for God without God drawing us.

Salvation is a decision not an emotion!

Preachers who tell people they can’t be saved because they rejected God too many times, and God is not drawing them to salvation, even though they want to be saved, are evil wolves in sheep’s clothing! They are not saved themselves and they hinder others from getting saved!

If you have been told that you cannot be saved, You have been lied too!

You can be saved. God wants to save you no matter what you have done or how many times you have rejected Him.

Will A Person Go To Hell If They Have Never Heard The Gospel?

This is a much debated issue in Christianity. Today we will look at what the Bible says about it.

Nature shows there is a God

Romans 1:

18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

God says here that everyone is without excuse because nature clearly shows that God exists.

Those who do not believe in Jesus are already condemned to Hell

John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

God Promises that those who diligently seek Him will find Him

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God promises here that if a person diligently seeks God then God will make sure they hear the gospel and have an opportunity to get saved.

I have heard about people in secluded tribes realizing from nature that the true God could not be their idols, but a single all powerful God who created everything. They then began to ask God to reveal Himself to them. Then after many years a missionary came to them and told them the Gospel and they got saved.

God gives everyone a chance to get saved, no one has an excuse. He reveals Himself through nature, and then He makes sure that anyone seeking Him does hear a clear presentation of the Gospel and has an opportunity to get saved.

The Mark of The Beast

Anti Christ

Every time you turn around someone is saying this or that is the Mark of the Beast.

When I was a small child they were saying it was credit cards or bar codes.

When I was a teenager they were saying it was the tracking chip some rich people were putting in their kids to protect them from getting kidnapped.

About 10 years ago they were saying it was the chip in the credit cards.

Now they are saying it is the Covid-19 vaccine, and that if you take the vaccine you are condemned to Hell!

I have news for you:

It is none of those things!

Today we look at the truth concerning the Mark of the Beast according to the Bible.

Both the Beast and the False Prophet must be in power, fully revealed, and the image of the Beast must be set up, before the Mark is instituted!

The Bible says in Revelation 13:11-18:

11 “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”

So before the Mark of the Beast can be instituted a well known world leader will suffer a deadly head wound and he will be healed by Satan.

Then another Beast, a false preacher, will show up doing all sorts of miracles including calling down fire from heaven, and will deceive people into worshiping the first Beast.

Then not the Beast himself nor the False Prophet, but the people under orders of the False Prophet, will build an image of the first Beast.

Remember Nebuchadnezer and his image. Whoever did not worship his image was killed, or at least thrown into a fiery furnace. Nebuchadnezer and his image was a small prelude to the Beast and his image. And just like Nebuchadnezer got saved in Daniel 4, the Beast can get saved too.

After the people build the image, the False Prophet gives life to it. Literally the Devil possess the image and causes it to speak and order the deaths of people who refuse to worship it.

Therefore, until these things happen, the Mark of the Beast has not been instituted yet.

It is impossible to accidently take the Mark of the Beast.

The Bible makes it vey clear that you must knowingly worship the Beast in order to take his Mark!

Revelation 13:12 “And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Revelation 13:15 “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Therefore, if you must question whether or not something is the Mark of the beast, it is NOT the Mark of the Beast!

A person can still repent and be saved after taking the Mark!

The Bible says:

Revelation 14:9-10 “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:”

People will go to hell for worshiping the Beast just like they go to hell for worshiping any other false God, but nowhere does the Bible say that they cannot repent and be saved.

The Bible also says All liars will go to hell. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Does that mean if you ever tell a lie you are condemned to hell and can never repent? If that were true no one could be saved!

The Bible says some people Overcome the Mark!

Revelation 15:2-3 “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
3 And they sing the song of Moses
the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”

These people had worshipped the Beast and taken the Mark and then got saved, probably through the ministry of the 144,000. There is no other way someone could get victory over the Mark, but to get saved and publicly renounce it! These people will then be martyred for forsaking the Beast.

The Bible says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever!

Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

God has never refused to save anyone, and God will never refuse to save anyone. As long as a person is still alive they can repent and be saved, no matter what sins they have committed!

Even during the Millennial Reign Jesus is still saying “Whosoever will let him come!”

Revelation 22:16 “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

In closing, the Mark of the Beast will not be instituted until the Beast and the False Prophet are both fully revealed and the image of the Beast is publicly made and set up by the people.

Furthermore, the Bible says people can gain victory over the Mark! Therefore, those who take the Mark can repent and be saved!

Assurance of Salvation

The Bible says we can know we are saved.

1 John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

So we know we are saved if we have believed in Jesus.

Remember though believing in Jesus not only means to believe the facts about Him, but to commit and yield our lives to obeying Him. The word “believe” in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance roots backwards twice to a word, which means “obey” (the word believe is Strong’s # 4100 in the Greek, which comes from # 4102, which comes from # 3982, which means obey and also yield).

The Bible says we know that we are saved because we keep God’s commandments.

1 John 3:24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.”

1John 2:3 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.”

This does not mean a Christian is completely sinless, but that they truly strive not to sin. To Learn what to do when you do sin see my post about 1 John 1:9. Furthermore, there are certain evil sins that a true Christian can never do like murder, rape, theft, hate God etc. To learn more about this please read my post “Sins A Christian Cannot Fall Into.”

Whether or not a person truly gets saved when they make their profession of Christ is determined by the quality of the “soil” meaning the pureness of their heart.

In the Parable of the Sower Jesus talks about a few groups of people who “believe,” but only one group truly gets saved: The ones who receive the word into good ground meaning they believe with a pure heart.

Mark 4:14 “The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.”

Jesus also said that only the pure in heart will see God.

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

The other 2 groups only received the gospel for selfish reasons. They only received it for their own benefit, so as soon as things got hard or they found something else that seemed more beneficial to them they abandoned Christ.

This is why we should never present the gospel to someone by saying something like “Say this prayer and all your problems will go away!”

The Christian life is a life of sacrifice not of self gratification!

Life is full of problems whether you are saved or not, and many times being saved can cause many problems, because the world hates you.

John 15:18 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

When a person comes to God for salvation, God can see the motives of their heart, and if it is not pure, He does not save them. A person must come to God in humbleness sacrificing their lives to obeying Him, not in greed demanding earthly things from Him!

The Bible says God gives believers eternal life.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

This means once we have it, we have it forever!

The Bible says no one can pluck us out of God’s hand.

John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.”

Notice it says His sheep follow him. A person can know that they are saved because they have believed the facts about Jesus and they have truly yielded their life as a sacrifice to Him.

Atonement

The word atonement means to cleanse, cover, reconcile, forgive, and pardon (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries #H3722 and #G2643).

Our sins must be atoned for with blood in order for us to have a relationship with God.

and Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

In the Old Testament God established animal sacrifices to atone for sin.

God killed animals when Adam and Eve sinned.

Genesis 3:21 “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.”

After Adam and Eve sinned, God killed 2 animals and made coats to clothe them. It can be inferred here that these 2 animals were also sacrificed to cover their sin, because throughout the rest of the Old Testament animals were sacrificed to cover sin, even before the Law.

Cain and Abel’s offerings were for sin.

Genesis 4:3-5 “And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”

Cain and Abel’s offerings were meant to be sin offerings, (not tithe offerings as my Dad taught me), because Hebrews 11:4 says they were sacrifices and Able had witness that he was righteous because of his proper sacrifice.

Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

A person is never said to be righteous because they give their tithes. A person is only said to be righteous if they have atoned for their sins through a sacrifice, and it must be a proper blood sacrifice. Vegetables are not accepted.

Job made burnt offerings for his sons possible sins.

Job 1:5 “And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.”

Under the Law of Moses God established a Day of Atonement once a year.

Leviticus 23:26 “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.”

Exodus 30:10 “And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

Once every year the High Priest of Israel would kill a lamb and take its blood into the Holy of Holies and sprinkle the blood of that lamb onto the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant to atone for the sins of the whole nation of Israel.

Today we receive Atonement through the Blood of Jesus.

John 1:29 “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Colossians 1:14 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

Hebrews 9:12 “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Hebrews 10:
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”

We no longer have to keep all those strict rules of the Day of Atonement and sacrifice animals to receive atonement for our sins (which did not give full atonement because the sins were only covered not washed away and a new sacrifice had to be made every year). We have been set free from that part of the Law, and we now have full atonement through Jesus Christ. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can atone for our sins. God will not accept anything else, not even good works, keeping the law, going to church, or baptism.

Rom 5:8-11 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”

The Purpose of Water Baptism

Baptism

Water baptism is an outward testimony to others that you have been saved, and the first act of obedience to Christ.

Romans 6:4 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Water baptism is a picture of salvation. It shows that we have died to sin, our old man of sin is buried, and we have been raised again to live a new life in Christ. Baptism should only be done by immersion, to show being buried with Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

However, since water baptism is the first act of obedience to Christ after salvation, then anyone who refuses to be baptized did not truly get saved, because in order to get saved you must commit to obeying Christ.

Therefore, baptism does not save anyone, but anyone who refuses to be baptized shows that they did not truly get saved.

That is why Jesus said in Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

Some people, like the thief on the cross next to Jesus, never have the opportunity to be baptized, but he would have been if he had had the opportunity.

Salvation is of the heart not physical actions.

If someone, has it in their heart that they would be baptized, but never gets the opportunity, then God accepts the intent of their heart.

The Apostle Paul said this in 2 Corinthians 8:12 “For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.”

Now I know that the Apostle Paul was not specifically talking about baptism in 2 Corinthians 8:12, but it establishes the principle that God does not hold it against us if we cannot do something, as long as our hearts are yielded to doing it if we had the opportunity. And that can be applied to baptism.

If people had to get baptized in order to get saved, then Jesus would not have told the thief next to Him that he would go to paradise.

Only saved people are to be baptized. The Bible never says that babies are to be baptized.

 John the Baptist said that people had to repent before they could be baptized, and Phillip told the Ethiopian Eunuch that he had to believe in Jesus with all of his heart before he could be baptized.

Acts 8:36-38 “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

Even in acts 2:38 the Apostle Peter said “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

The word “for” in this verse means “backward” and “of” which means “because of”( Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Hebrew and Greek dictionaries #1519 in the Greek.)

Furthermore, there is a comma after the word repent and the whole phrase “and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” is in between 2 commas. This means this is a parenthetical phrase. This shows that a person is baptized because their sins were remitted by the repentance. This means a person receives remission of sins when they repent (turning away from sin to obedience to Christ), and then they are baptized because they have already received the remission of their sins, when they repented.

It also shows that a person receives the indwelling of the Holy Ghost when they repent before baptism, because the whole baptism phrase is parenthetical. This means that if the whole parenthetical phrase about baptism is removed, it still shows that a person  gets saved (receives the indwelling of the Holy Ghost) when they repent.

In addition, the word baptism in 1 Peter 3:21 is figurative, not literal baptism in water (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Hebrew and Greek dictionaries #908 in the Greek). This is speaking of baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is the same thing as being indwelt by the Holy Ghost.

1 Peter 3:21 “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Remember John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize people with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Luke 3:16 “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”

Salvation is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

Since a person receives the Holy Spirit when they repent and believe in Jesus, then they are saved when they repent and believe in Jesus. Water baptism is a picture of salvation. It does not save anyone.

People have to make the decision to repent before they could be baptized, and then them being baptized in water showed that they believed in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A baby cannot make the decision to repent and believe in Jesus, and all babies are protected by God and not held accountable for sin.

Therefore, there is no reason to baptize a baby, and nowhere in the Bible does it say to baptize a baby.

Salvation is a decision, those who have never been capable of making that decision are protected and not held accountable to God for sin. If they die they go to heaven.

Furthermore, children are not held accountable to God for their sins, only adults are.

None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.”

Even Jesus Said That Zacchaeus Was Saved Only After He Had Said That He Would Restore Anything He Had Stolen.

Luke 19:1-9 “And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.”

John The Baptist Said To Bring Forth Fruits Meet For Repentance

Luke 3:7-13:

7 “Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.”

Paul Said To Prove Yourselves That You Are Saved!

2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”

2 Corinthians 13:11 “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

The word perfect here means that you do not rebel against God and willfully sin.

We are human, we will make mistakes, but we are never to rebel against God.

To rebel against God is to look into the face of Christ while on the cross, spit in His face, and tell Him “I don’t care what you suffered for me, I am going to do what I want to do!

If you can do that, then you are not saved!

God Demands Holiness! Not Lip Service!

Isaiah 29:13-24:

13 “Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
20 For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
21 That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
22 Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
23 But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.”

Faith Without Works Is Dead!

The Bible says in James 2:17-26:

17 “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

We are not saved by works, but if our faith does not cause us to obey God, then we are not saved.

Ephesians 2:8-10:

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

See we are not saved by works, but once we are saved we are created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

So, if we are truly saved, we will obey God and live a life of good works.

You cannot be saved just by believing the facts about Jesus.

The Bible says that even the devils believe the facts about Jesus, but yet they are not saved.

James 2:19 “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

So, What is the Proper belief need for salvation?

The word “believe” in Romans 10:9 in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance roots backwards twice to a word, which means “obey” (the word believe is Strong’s # 4100 in the Greek, which comes from # 4102, which comes from # 3982, which means obey and also yield).

This shows that true faith is rooted in obedience.

Therefore, in order to fulfill the requirements of salvation in Romans 10:9 you must be fully persuaded in your mind of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done, and your heart must change from wanting to sin to wanting to obey God. This is an immediate change of your heart (meaning desire and will).

It means that you yield (submit) your will to God’s will.

When a person truly gets saved, they no longer have a complete free will to sin. The Holy Spirit will not allow them to fall into really evil sins like murder, bullying, adultery, racisism, homosexuality, any kind of theft, etc.

1 Corinthians 6: 9-10 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Jesus said in Matthew 7:18 “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”

The word evil in Matthew 7:18 means hurtful, grievous, mischief, and malicious (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G4190). Therefore, a saved person is not capable of falling into any hurtful, grievous, mischief, and malicious sins like murder, rape, bullying, falsely accusing, stealing, alcoholism, drug addiction etc. A saved person cannot do any of those kinds of sins. The Holy Spirit will not allow them too!

If a person wants to hold onto their ability to commit any sin, then they are not saved!

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

To diligently seek God includes surrendering your whole will to Him.

Also, Philip told the Ethiopian Eunuch that he had to believe in Jesus with all his heart. The word believe means to yield (Acts 8:37).

In order for a person to get saved they must yield their whole heart to Christ!

Therefore, God is not going to save someone who does not surrender their free will to Him!

That is repentance of sins, and it is required for you to receive forgiveness of your sins.

Luke 13:5 “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

Ezekiel 18:23 “Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?”

Ezekiel 18:23 agrees with 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

In addition, Matthew 9:13 says “But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

You may still struggle with some sins like a short temper or saying bad words for awhile after you get saved, but you are going to be so convicted over your sin, when you mess up, that you are going to cry out to God to help you to change.

However, a saved person cannot be overtaken by any sin either.

They cannot live any kind of a sinful lifestyle. A saved person can fall into some sins, and they can struggle with some sins, but they cannot become addicted to any sin, or live a sinful lifestyle. And there are some evil sins like the ones mentioned before that they cannot even fall into. 

In addition, I am not saying that a person has to work for their salvation, nor do they have to stop doing their sins on their own before they get saved. I am not saying that they have to be afraid of doing any of those kinds of evil sins.

That is what Grace is for! Grace is the power of the Holy Spirit to keep us from falling that bad.

You don’t have to work at not doing those sins. When a person truly repents and makes a true commitment to Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit just comes in and makes it impossible for them to fall that bad. Therefore if they are a drug addict or an alcoholic, God will take the drug addiction or alcoholism away from them, when they truly get saved. They will never be able to do drugs or get drunk ever again. God will not let them!

This is the only way you can go to heaven.

If you have never done this please do it now. Here is a prayer that you can pray word for word or use as a guide to tell God that you believe the gospel, repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. You will not get saved just by praying this prayer, you must truly believe and repent with your heart.

The prayer does not save you. The decision to believe in Jesus and repent of your sins (submit your whole free will to God) is what saves you. The prayer just helps you tell God that you have made these decisions.

Here is the prayer:

“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and bodily arose from the dead 3 days later to pay for my sins. I repent of my sins, and I yield my whole free will to you. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to obey you and live for you for now on. Please take me to heaven when my life on this earth is over. Thank you for saving me. In Christ Jesus name, Amen.”

Also, just because a Christian is capable of falling into certain lesser sins, does not mean that they get away with doing those sins either! Christians will not get away with any sin! They cannot lose their salvation and go to hell, but they can receive a harsh judgment. The Age Of Accountability

I have been taught all my life that the age of accountability is different for each person. And that a person reaches the age of accountability as soon as they understand right from wrong, even if they are only 5 years old (or even younger).

The way I have been taught as a Baptist all my life is that if a child as young as 5 (or even 3) understands right from wrong, but they have not received Christ as their Saviour yet, and they die, they will go to Hell.

I was also taught that the rapture was only for those who had made a decision for Christ. So, then all babies would be left behind, when the rapture happened.

The Baptist Belief About the Age of Accountability is Based On:

2 Samuel 12:22-23 “And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”

In this passage David’s baby died and was taken to paradise. The baby was not sent to hell, because he was still innocent and was too young to be accountable to God for anything.

I Agree With Other Baptist that this Passage Does Establish an Age of Accountability Doctrine.

Babies are innocent, and if they die they go to heaven.

However, this Passage Does Not Say When a Person Becomes Accountable to God.

It just shows that babies are not accountable to God.

A Few Years Ago I Began to Hear of More and More Parents Becoming Very Worried that the Rapture Would Happen Soon, and their 5, 6, 7 Year Old Kids Would be Left Behind.

This troubled me, because Christians receive a special crown for loving Christ’s appearing. It is our Blessed Hope.

2 Timothy 4:8 “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Titus 2:13 “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

I began to search out exactly what the Bible says about the age of accountability, and what I found out both shocked me and gave me great peace.

Now I want to share this with all Christians everywhere, especially Christian parents, so they can have peace too.

To Begin with, Jesus Said That the Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to Children.

Matthew 19:14 “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Furthermore, Paul said in Romans 7:9 “For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”

This shows a person is not accountable to God for their sins until they are old enough to be accountable to the law (God’s law).

So, the New Testament does show that there is an age of accountability.

Then I Noticed that in Genesis the Bible Shows That Cain and Able Were Grown When They Brought Their First Offerings to God.

Genesis 4
1 “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife;
and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.”

This shows that Cain was already married by the time he gave his offering. The first couple of verses indicate that Cain and Able were twins. It mentions 1 conception, but then says Eve bare 2 sons.

Therefore, it appears that Cain and Able were both grown and Cain was already married, but Able may not have been married yet.

Furthermore, we know these offerings were meant to be sin offerings, (not tithe offerings as my Dad taught me), because Hebrews 11:4 says they were sacrifices and Able had witness that he was righteous because of his proper sacrifice.

Hebrews 11:4 “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

A person is never said to be righteous because they give their tithes. A person is only said to be righteous if they have atoned for their sins through a sacrifice, and it must be a proper blood sacrifice. Vegetables are not accepted!

Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Today, we must accept Jesus’s sacrifice as the blood atoning sacrifice for our sins for God to call us righteous, back then they had to sacrifice an animal like a lamb, goat, or bull.

This shows that the first 2 children born in the world did not bring an offering to God to atone for their sins until they were adults. Cain and Able had reached adulthood, (Cain was even married already) and the time had come for them to present themselves before God with a proper blood sacrifice to atone for their sins. Able did it right and was accepted of God, Cain refused to do it right and was rejected by God.

Note: I am not saying that children cannot get saved. Jesus said very plainly not to forbid children from getting saved. Children need to get saved once they truly understand salvation in order to preserve them. Jesus said this Himself. I explain all this in great detail later in this post.

Then I Noticed that When God Decided to Destroy Israel in the Wilderness He Set an Age Limit of 20 and Above.

This shows that God does not see a person as an adult until they are 20.

Now, this is according to the Hebrew calendar, so according to our calendar it would be 18 1/2.

Human nature never changes, and even today we know that if the parents are rebellious against an authority, their teenage children will usually stand with them against the same authority.

God decided to destroy all the adults, because they did not want to go into the Promised land, they wanted to return to Egypt, and were actually starting to pick up stones to kill Moses and Aaron. Numbers chapter 14.

You know there were teenagers there also who were picking up stones to try to help their parents kill Moses and Arron. But in this instance, God had mercy and spared the teenagers from death.

Why? Because they were not adults yet. They were not accountable to God for their sins yet.

Then I Found that the Only Time in the Bible Where an Age is Mentioned that Anyone Had to Make an Atonement for Their Souls is the Age of 20 and Above.

Exodus 30:

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
13 This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.
14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.
15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.
16 And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

This passage in Exodus also shows that people are not accountable to God, nor subject to God’s law, until they are 20 years old. Remember what Paul said in Romans 7:9 “For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”

God is a King and a Judge, and the Bible is a Legal Book.

Just like the legal age of accountability in America is 18, and they usually do not prosecute a teenager on the same level as an adult, God is the same way.

The legal age of an adult in God’s eyes is 20, and that is according to the Hebrew calendar, so according to our calendar it would be 18 1/2. America got it pretty close!

Then I Noticed that God Commanded in the Bible for Parents to Take their Drunkard Teenagers Out and Have them Stoned.

Deuteronomy 21:

18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

God was commanding here to stone teenagers who were drunkards, rebellious towards authority, or glutenous which includes drug addiction, slothfulness, basically the loose party type lifestyle.

It is what we would call a troubled teen today. A teenager who won’t go to school, won’t work, disrespects and disobeys their parents, drinks, does drugs, and lives that kind of an irresponsible lifestyle.

That verse is not speaking of little kids telling their parents “No!” God did not say to take your 5 yr old and have them stoned for telling you “No!” Like I was taught in the Baptist church.

The Bible puts very clear and specific guidelines. The kid must be a rebellious drunk or drug addict, who has no respect for authority, will take no responsibility, and only wants to have a “good time” with no regard for anyone else.

This is clearly talking about rebellious teenagers, not little kids!

Now, The Bible Says that a Teenager Who Lives This Way is to be Put to Death, But it Never Says that An Adult Who Lives This Way Should be Put to Death.

The reason why God commanded that rebellious teenagers be put to death was to save their souls! Because if they reached adulthood at the age of 20 with that rebellious attitude and lifestyle, they would then be accountable to God and would be in danger of Hell.

By ending their life before adulthood it protected them from facing God’s judgment in Hell.

This is why God commanded that teenagers, who lived a rebellious lifestyle like this were put to death, but not adults.

It is already too late to kill an adult who lives like that to save them from hell, because they are already on their way to hell. They have already reached the age of accountability. Their only Hope is to get saved.

So, in both cases it is about God’s mercy on people’s souls. Rebellious teenagers are to be put to death in order to save their soul, because they are not yet accountable to God.

However, rebellious adults (unless they do something specifically worthy of death like murder) are to be allowed to live, in hope that they will get saved, before their sins catch up with them and they end up going to hell.

So, Christians Can Have Peace Concerning Their Children’s Spiritual Protection.

You do not have to worry about whether your little kid truly understands salvation, they are still safe even if they don’t.

Now, Jesus Said Not to Forbid Children to Come to Him.

It is very important that children do get saved, so that way they are saved in innocence and are never in danger of going to Hell.

Jesus Even Said This In Matthew 18:

10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Notice, it says sheep go astray, not lambs. What Jesus is saying here is do not forbid children to get saved. Children need to get saved so they don’t ever become lost and condemned to hell, when they reach adulthood. (Jesus did command Peter to feed His lambs in John 21:15.)

Matthew 18 also shows that children can get saved because Jesus talks about the 99 sheep that never went astray (meaning: they never became lost and condemned to hell!) Just let that truth sink into your heart for a minute “99 sheep that were never lost and condemned to hell!” This is why children need to get saved! Even though they are protected from hell now, they need to be preserved from hell forever!

Remember Paul said:

Romans 7:9 “For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”

So when Paul became an adult without being saved he died (perished) spiritually! Jesus said that it is not the Father’s will for any child to ever die spiritually! This is why He said to allow the children to come to Him and not forbid them from getting saved!

Just because children are not accountable to God for their sins yet does not mean that they cannot or don’t need to get saved. They are still sinners! They just are not condemned to hell yet!

And most children can fully understand salvation between the ages of 7 and 13.

Also, once a person gets saved the Holy Spirit will not allow them to become a drunkard, or a drug addict, or do some other really bad sins (see my post “Sins A Saved Person Cannot Fall Into” at https://shiningthelightministries.com/2021/05/12/sins-a-saved-person-cannot-fall-into/.) Salvation goes a long way to protect children from ruining their lives later on in life. So, if you want to ensure that your child never becomes a drug addict, drunkard, murderer etc. Make sure they get saved, when they do show that they can understand the Gospel, including repentance, and that salvation is a commitment to obeying Christ, not just a head belief concerning the facts about Christ.

You Do Not Want Your Children to Believe in Jesus Like They Believe in Santa Clause!

I fear that many times that is what happens, because parents are so scared their little kids are going to go to Hell or be left behind if the rapture happens, that they push them to say a prayer, and the kids do not truly understand it, and no one realizes that they did not truly get saved until they have already messed up their life as a teenager or even died and went to hell as an adult.

Salvation is not obtained by just believing that Jesus is real. It goes much deeper that that. A person must also truly repent of their sins and make a life long commitment to obeying Christ.

Now once a person is 18 1/2 years old you do not have to wonder if they can understand the Gospel or not, you know they can. Unless they have a mental illness that makes it to where they cannot understand on an adult level. In this case they are still in the state of innocence. God sees them as being legally incompetent, just like our American courts do. And most children can understand salvation between the ages of 7 and 13.

Now, When it Comes to the Rapture, the Bible Shows that the Children of Saved People (Under 18 1/2) Go With Them in the Rapture, Even if the Children Themselves Are Not Saved Yet.

1 Corinthians 7:14 -16″ But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?”

The Bible says that the children of saved people are Holy. The word Holy means “set apart.”

So, since all children go to heaven if they die, whether their parents are saved or not, then what would the children of saved people be “set apart” to?

It would have to be the rapture.

Therefore, when the rapture happens all children under 18 1/2, who have at least 1 parent that is saved, will be taken, even if they are not saved themselves yet.

How the False Doctrine of Children Being Accountable to God Affected My Brothers and I.

My parents believed that a child as young as 3 years old could be condemned to hell. And that the rapture was only for people who have made a decision for salvation. So, they believed that all babies would be left behind in the rapture.

My brothers and I all made professions of faith at 3 and 4 years old, because our parents thought we knew right from wrong, and were therefore already condemned to hell.

They were also afraid we would be left behind, if the rapture happened.

However, none of us kids truly understood salvation at those young ages, so none of us actually got saved at that time.

Now, I ended up truly getting saved at the age of 12.

My youngest brother truly got saved at the age of 7.

However, my middle brother did not truly get saved until he was 22 years old (about 4 years after reaching adulthood).

He showed he was having doubts at the age of 16, but Dad blew up at him saying “We are missionaries and were supposed to already be saved!

He finally ended up getting saved at the age of 22 after our Dad left.

My brother is a very disciplined person, so he never got into any really bad sins like drinking or doing drugs, but he still was not saved. Being a good person does not save you. You must believe the Gospel, repent of your sins , and make a lifelong commitment to obeying Christ. My brother was struggling with believing in the resurrection, but God convinced Him and he got saved.

Therefore, the false doctrine of the Baptist that children must get saved or they will go to hell or miss the rapture actually put my brother in danger of going to hell, because he reached adulthood without being saved, after being pressured into making a profession at 4 and then practically being forbidden to get saved at 16 by Dad.

And I believe there are many other people in the same situation.

This is why the Church Is Losing Their Children!

They are not truly saved! They have never been saved! They were pressured into making a profession as a child, and then looked down on if they ever questioned it!

So, then when they get into college and become exposed to liberal ideologies they end up believing them, because they do not have the Holy Spirit in them.

The Bible Teaches Very Plainly that a Truly Saved Person Cannot Completely Turn Away From God and Become an Atheist.

Psalms 14:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”

Jesus said that a person who believes in Him is wise, like a man who builds his house on a rock. (Luke 6:48)

A person cannot be saved and an Atheist at the same time. if someone becomes an Atheist, they were never saved!

1 Corinthians 6: 9-10 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Yes, children need to get saved! Not to immediately protect their souls, but to preserve their souls! So they do not perish (spiritually die)! As Jesus said, it is not the Father’s will for them to perish! Meaning: ending up becoming lost sheep condemned to hell as adults! Jesus said not to despise the little ones (meaning do not forbid them to get saved), because the Father does not want them to become condemned to hell, when they reach adulthood!

And Yes, Children’s ministries (like bus ministries, AWANA, etc), are vital! Not only so that children can get saved in innocence, and never actually be lost and condemned to hell, but so that if both of their parents are lost and the rapture happens, then the saved child will be taken!

But make sure children truly understand salvation. Do not pressure them into making a decision they do not truly understand. And never look down on anyone for doubting their salvation. There is nothing wrong with anyone doubting their salvation and making a new commitment to Christ. God commands all Christians to doubt their salvation and make sure they are in the faith! 2 Corinthians 13:5a “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.” If anyone is ever doubting their salvation just explain the Gospel to them again, and then lead them to make a new commitment to Christ. Because we cannot see the person’s heart! We cannot know if they are truly saved! No matter how good of a life they live! Therefore, we have no right to ever tell anyone that they are saved and not to be concerned about it! Convincing someone that they are saved is the Holy Spirit’s job, not ours!

I pray this gives you peace, knowing that your children under the age of 18 1/2 years old will go to heaven if they die, and will be taken in the rapture, even if they have not gotten saved yet. They are protected, and are not accountable to God for their sins yet. However, most children can truly understand salvation by the time they are 13.

And no, your children will not have to make a decision for Christ in the Millennial Reign. There is no biblical support for that. The Bible says very clearly that after death is judgment (Hebrews 9:27). How a person dies is how they spend eternity. If they die in innocence, they spend eternity in innocence in heaven.

Sins A Saved Person Cannot Fall Into.

I have found many passages in the Bible that teach there are certain sins that a saved person cannot fall into.

When a person truly gets saved the Holy Spirit puts a love for God in their heart and makes them want to please God and not do anything to displease Him.

Therefore, If we just simply love God with all of our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves then it we obey all of God’s commandments.

Matthew 22:36-40 “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

A Saved Person Cannot Commit Murder.

The Bible says in:

1 John 3:15 “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

This verse here explicitly says that a saved person is not capable of falling into every sin that a lost person can commit. This verse says very plainly that a saved person is not capable of committing murder, because it says, “no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

Therefore, if a person commits murder, they have never been saved. It is not that they have lost their salvation, because the Bible teaches very plainly that a person cannot lose their salvation.

John 10:27-30 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.”

It is simply that they have never been saved, and they need to get saved.

A Saved Person Cannot Persecute Another Christian or be Racist

The Bible says in:

1 John 2:9 “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.”

1 John 2:11 “But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”

1 John 4:20 “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen”?

All of these verses and 1 John 3:15 says very plainly that a saved person cannot hate his brother (another Christian).

The word hateth in these verses means to detest (especially to persecute) and to love less (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3404).

Therefore, someone who detests a Christian, persecutes a Christian, or even has “respect of persons” towards different Christians, is not saved. This would include being a racist (even saying that Christians of different skin colors cannot marry) or respecting the rich over the poor as is spoken against in James chapter 2.

 Again, racists and those who persecute Christians in other ways, have not lost their salvation, they have just never been saved, and they need to get saved.

Biblical Example of a Fake Christian Persecuting a True Christian

The Apostle John gives an example of a fake Christian persecuting a true Christian in 3 John 1:9-12 “I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.”

In this passage the Apostle John is writing to Gaius and is speaking to him about 2 other pastors. He is teaching him that one of these pastors is lost, and the other is saved.

John says that Diotrephes is prideful, loves to have the preeminence, refused to receive him, conspired, and spoke against him with malicious words (this would include falsely accusing him of something) and kicks good people out of the church.

John goes on to say that because this pastor does these things then he is not saved and tells Gaius not to follow Diotrephes.

He says “Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.” “Hath not seen God” means that He has not seen God for who He truly is, which means he is not saved (Hebrews 11:6). Then John tells Gaius to follow Demetrius because Demetrius has proven himself to have good fruit.

Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:18 “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”

This also shows a saved person is not capable of falling into every sin that a lost person can do. It is impossible! They cannot do it!

 Furthermore, this man in persecuting the Apostle John, proved that he was lost. Because a saved person cannot persecute another saved person. The other verses above showed that plainly.

Other Sins A Saved Person Can Never Fall Into.

1 Corinthians 6 lists a lot of sins that a saved person is incapable of falling into:

1 Corinthians 6: 9-10 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

The word fornicators in this verse means to sell, speaking of a male prostitute, which would also include a female prostitute because God holds everyone to the same standards (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G4204), it also means a human trafficker and a pimp (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # # G4907).

So, this goes further than just basic fornication of an unmarried man and woman accidently falling into sin, which can be made right by them marrying. The kind of fornication spoken of here in this verse goes much deeper than that. A saved person is capable of falling into basic fornication, but the Holy Spirit will not allow them to sell themselves or enslave others. A person who is that deeply evil has never been saved! Do not be deceived, they are on their way to hell, so they need to get saved, not just get right.

A saved person would not be able to shack up either, because the Bible also says that a saved person cannot be overtaken by any sin (Galatians 6:1-3 I will speak of this more later in this post.)

The word idolaters in this verse means to actually worship and become a servant to an image or false god (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G1497). In order to do this, you would have to completely turn your back on God and denounce Christ. This is more than just making the mistake of putting money or family above God. A saved person is capable of falling into that, but the Holy Spirit will not allow them to actually worship and become a servant to an image or false god, like people will have to do in order to take the Mark of the Beast.

The word adulterers in this verse means an actual adulterer, someone who is a paramour meaning they have an actual sweetheart/lover other than their spouse (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3432), and of course this would go for adulteresses too. This verse makes it very plain that a saved person is incapable of actually cheating on their spouse. A saved person may be able to fall into a lustful thought, they may even be able to get divorced and remarried, but it is plain that the Holy Spirit will not allow them to actually do anything with someone else while they are still married.

If a person actually commits physical adultery like that, then they definitely have never been saved. They will not inherit the kingdom of God, unless they get saved. This verse plainly says that.

This word adulterers also means an apostate (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3432). Someone who completely denies the faith, and turns away from God, and teaches others to do so too. The Bible does say that a saved person can stop believing in God (2 Timothy 2:13), so apparently this is speaking of going deeper than that. Like someone actually becoming a regular evolutionary professor (not Theistic evolution). Basically, an active outspoken enemy of God. It can also mean someone who starts denying things like the Bodily Resurrection of Christ, the Virgin birth etc.

And someone who refuses to change their preaching once they have realized they were wrong, especially if it is something that could send people to hell.

Someone who does these kinds of things has never been saved. According to 2 Timothy 2:13 a saved person can become angry with God and lose their faith temporarily, but they cannot actually go around speaking against God and actively trying to draw others away from Him.

The word effeminate in this verse means a man who is the feminine partner in a sodomite relationship (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3120). A saved man cannot do that!

The phrase abusers of themselves with mankind in this verse means a sodomite (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G733). Romans 1 further shows that a saved person can never “fall” into the sins of homosexuality or lesbianism, because in order for a person to do that they must already be turned over to a reprobate mind. A person cannot have a reprobate mind and be saved at the same time. Therefore, it is impossible for a saved person to fall into sodomy.

All sodomites are lost and going to hell, I don’t care if they were raised in church, made a profession as a kid or still go to church. They are lost, not just backslidden. The Holy Spirit will not allow a saved person to backslide that far!

Hebrews 10:39 “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”

Jude 1:24-25 “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”

However, sodomites can get saved, because the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” So, people with reprobate minds can get saved.

The word thieves in this verse means a stealer (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G2812, G2813), and it says to compare it to Strong’s # G3027 which means to lift or take small and pretty things.  So, this even includes things like petty theft, shoplifting, etc. Not just stealing big things. A saved person is not capable of intentionally stealing at all, not even cheating on their taxes, or stealing food when they are hungry.

We never stole anything when we did not have food for 7 days many years ago, we were not even tempted to steal, we just ate grass out of the yard.

Now, accidently forgetting to give a pen back would not be included.

However, I have always taken the pen back if I can, once I realize I have taken one. I have always just felt like I needed to return a pen that I had accidently kept, even though I did not know that intentionally stealing something would mean that I was not saved. So, the Holy Spirit has kept me from sin even above the minimum required to prove salvation.

The word covetous in this verse means to be a defrauder (conman) (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G4123). It goes further than just wanting something, it is wanting it to the point that you would con the owner out of it. It is more like greed. This would also include holding back wages of employees, or lying and unjustly suing someone (frivolous lawsuits) (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G2192).

The word drunkards in this verse of course means an alcoholic (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3184), it would also include a drug addict, because drugs also alter the mind. So, if someone makes a profession of faith as a child, but then becomes a drug addict or an alcoholic later in life, then they did not truly get saved as a child. They are lost!

This shows it is not “Normal” for teenagers to rebel. If they do rebel into an ungodly lifestyle, or into one of these sins, then they have never been saved!

The word revilers in this verse means a mischievous abuser. (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3060) A bully. This is someone who likes to pick on people and cause fights.

Mischievous abuser would also include a rapist. So, a saved person could never do that either.

The word extortioners in this verse means a violent thief, someone who steals by force (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries #G727 and G726). This would include things like robbery with a gun, kidnapping, and organized crime protection rackets. A saved person cannot do these things.

Now, there have been cases where a parent will kidnap their own child in order to protect them. That is not included here. Sometimes the government makes a mistake and gives the child to the wrong parent. A parent who kidnaps their child in order to protect them can be saved, and is not guilty of a sin. Even Amy Carmichael kidnapped children in order to rescue them from horrible abuse in pagan temples in India. She was a hero; she did not sin.

The Bible makes it very clear that people who commit the sins listed above have never been saved.

Yes, king David was capable of committing murder and adultery, but He was not sealed with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to keep him from sin.

The gift of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is why saved people now are incapable of falling into those sins.

However, Job never committed any of those sins, he never even intentionally broke any of God’s commandments, and he was not indwelt with the Holy Spirit either.

Job 1:1 “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.”

The perfection of Job was practical righteousness not imputed righteousness of Jesus, because Jesus had not died yet.

Therefore, in the Old Testament it was possible for a person to not fall into any of those evil sins, or even intentionally break any of Gd’s commandments, even though the Holy Spirit was not indwelling them.

Now, today a person does break the first commandment just by not being saved. So, to be as perfect as Job was, a person must be truly saved and never intentionally break any of God’s commandments.

Now that level of perfection is not required for salvation, but Job does prove that since we do have the gift of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and he did not, that we definitely are capable of never intentionally breaking any of God’s commandments. We never have any excuse to sin!

Someone can never say something like “A Christian ought to keep God’s commandments as much as is possible in these sinful bodies.” In order to excuse intentional sin. Because what Job proves is that it is possible for a saved person to never intentionally break one of God’s commandments!

Also, just because a Christian is capable of falling into certain lesser sins, does not mean that they get away with doing those sins either! Christians will not get away with any sin! They cannot lose their salvation and go to hell, but they can receive a harsh judgment. Even in the New Testament when Peter denied Christ, he was not indwelt with the Holy Spirit yet.

Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to the disciples after the resurrection in John 20:22:

 “And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:”

The Bible even says to kick really evil people out of the church so that they will get saved.

It says to turn them over to Satan for the destruction of their flesh so that their spirit will be saved. If a person’s spirit is not saved they are lost and going to Hell. The Bible says to kick these really evil people out of the church so that they will realize they are lost and then they will get saved. See 1 Corinthians chapter 5.

If you read the book of 2 Corinthians you will find that the man in 1 Corinthians 5 did end up getting saved and then Paul commanded that he be allowed back into the church.

In addition, Romans 5 and 6 does not mean that the more we sin the more grace abounds!

Romans 5:15 – 6:2 “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”

This means that as Adam’s sin abounded to our death, the Grace of Jesus Christ abounds even more to restore life to us, because not only are we restored to being able to have a relationship with God and have eternal life, but now we receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to make it impossible for us to do the worst sins.

Adam and Eve were never indwelt by the Holy Spirit, not even in their state of innocence!

This is how Grace abounds much more than sin!

 It is also false to say that a saved person is no better than a lost person.

A saved person must be better than a lost person or they are not saved!

In Romans 3:9-18 Paul was saying that religious Jews are no better than pagan Gentiles, because they are all sinners without Christ. Not that saved people are no better than lost people!

Romans 3:9-18 “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

All the sins that he mentions in Romans 3:11-18 a saved person cannot even do. I just proved that with Scripture!

A saved person must be better than a lost person, otherwise they are not saved!

A saved person having that kind of wrong humility, by putting themselves on the same level as a lost person can cause them to lose their reward! (Colossians 2:18)

In addition, saying that a saved person can fall into any sin, or can commit any sin that a lost person can is a damnable heresy, because it is sending some people to hell! It makes some people think that they can be saved and still be capable of falling into any sin. It gives them a false sense of security.

These teachings of a saved person being able to fall into any sin that a lost person can commit, and that salvation does not require repentance come from the false Gnostic gospels, and the false Alexandrian bibles that the Roman Catholic church (the Great Whore of Revelation 17) was founded upon. These heresies were already being taught in the days of the Apostles. That is why they preached so strongly against them!

Paul said, “Be Not Deceived”. The devil’s church was already working to deceive people into believing a lie and damning their souls to the eternal flames of Hell!

The Bible also says that liars are not saved:

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Revelation 22:15 “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

This is speaking of false accusers and people who love to lie and make lies.

This is not speaking of being courteous and telling someone that their food is ok when it is burnt or a man telling his wife that her dress does not make her look fat, even if it does.

Nor is it speaking of lying, in order to protect someone. God never changes, look at Rahab.

Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

It is not speaking of those kinds of “lies.”

This is mainly speaking of false accusers. The actual command in the 10 Commandments is to “not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” (Exodus 20:16)

This plainly shows that a saved person is not capable of intentionally falsely accusing someone.

So, if a person intentionally falsely accuses someone then they have never been saved. I don’t care if they are a pastor, a deacon, a Sunday school teacher. I don’t even care if they said a prayer and were able to somehow turn over a new leaf. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked! (Jeremiah 17:9).

A person can also deceive themselves into thinking that they are saved.

Galatians 6:1-8 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

This passage shows that a person can deceive themselves into thinking they are saved, but it makes it very plain that they will reap what they sow. A person cannot reap corruption and life everlasting at the same time! 

Therefore, a saved person cannot be overtaken by any sin.

They cannot live any kind of a sinful lifestyle. A saved person can fall into some sins, and they can struggle with some sins, but they cannot become addicted to any sin, or live a sinful lifestyle. And there are some sins like the ones mentioned before that they cannot even fall into. 

Just because someone preaches and leads others to Christ does not mean they themselves are saved. The Word of God is not bound. The Word of God can get someone saved, no matter who is preaching it (Philippians 1:15-18, Isaiah 55:11, Hebrews 4:12).

Even Jesus said that not all ministers are saved.

Matthew 7:13-23 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Repentance is not trading one sin for another!

I have seen many of these ministers claim they are saved, because they don’t do drugs, drink, or steal anymore.

However, the Word of God says they are still not saved, because they now commit adultery, or they are racist, or they con people out of money, or some even do actually steal by embezzling money from their ministry.

These people may have repented from one or a few sins, but they did not completely repent.

Because to completely repent means to yield your will to God’s will. The word “believe” in Romans 10:9 means to yield (the word believe is Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # 4100 in the Greek, which comes from # 4102, which comes from # 3982, which means obey and also yield). When a person truly gets saved, they no longer have a complete free will to sin. The Holy Spirit will not allow them to fall into the really evil sins listed above.

If a person wants to hold onto their ability to commit any sin, then they are not saved!

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

To diligently seek God includes surrendering your whole will to Him.

Also, Philip told the Ethiopian Eunuch that he had to believe in Jesus with all his heart. The word believe means to yield (Acts 8:37).

In order for a person to get saved they must yield their whole heart to Christ!

Therefore, God is not going to save someone who does not surrender their free will to Him!

The word evil in Matthew 7:17 and 7:18 means hurtful, grievous, mischief, and malicious (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G4190). Therefore, a saved person is not capable of falling into any hurtful, grievous, mischief, and malicious sins like murder, rape, bullying, falsely accusing, stealing and the others listed above. A saved person cannot do any of those kinds of sins. The Holy Spirit will not allow them too!

That is the Truth of the Word of God!

When a person comes to God for salvation, God can see in their heart and He knows if they are truly repentant.

If they are not truly repentant, then He does not save them!

John 2:23-25 “Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.”

These people believed the facts about Him in their head, but they did not want to repent and obey Him.

This is not legalism.

I am not saying that a person has to work for their salvation, I am not saying that they have to be afraid of doing any of those sins.

That is what Grace is for! Grace is the power of the Holy Spirit to keep us from falling that bad.

You don’t have to work at not doing those sins. When a person truly repents and makes a true commitment to Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit just comes in and makes it impossible for them to fall that bad. The Holy Spirit puts a love for God in our hearts and makes us want to please God and not do anything to displease Him. If we just simply love God with all of our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves then it we obey all of God’s commandments. (Matthew 22:36-40)

When I discovered these truths in Scripture, I trembled.

I was scared to death, because I had believed wrong, I was so afraid that I may have done one of those sins, because I was not being so careful not to.

I prayed and asked God to show me if I had ever done anything like that, I searched my heart and tried to go back over my whole life since my profession at 12.

 I found that the Holy Spirit had kept me, I had never done anything like that since I made my profession (and most of them I never even did before), even though I did not know that if I did do anything like that then it would mean I was never saved.

I was not constantly worried and being careful, but the Holy Spirit kept me, and did not allow me to do any of those things.

That is true Grace!

The Holy Spirit keeps us from falling, even if we do not fully understand every little thing. We do not have to work at not falling into those particular sins, because the Holy Spirit makes it impossible for us to fall into them!

So now more than ever, I know that I truly did get saved at the age of 12. Because I know that without the Holy Spirit’s restraint, I would have at least stolen something small since I was 12, because that was the problem I had before I got saved. I just never got caught.

However, once I became an adult and got a job, I did pay restitution to those whom I had stolen from.

So, God showed me that after my profession at 12 I have never done any of those kinds of sins, and I even made things right, when I could.  He showed me that I did truly get saved at the age of 12.

When God showed me this, the assurance of salvation flooded my soul like never before, and my great fear of ever totally falling away from God, completely melted away. Because I now know that that is completely impossible, because I am truly saved. The Holy Spirit will not allow me to fall that bad.

Now, not all lost people do really bad sins, some just need to repent of some basic sins and trust in Jesus. I grew up around a lot of Mormons back in Colorado. Many of them live a lot better lives than most Baptists, but they are still sinners, and they still need to repent and believe the true Gospel. Most Mormons are not even polygamists. That is only an extreme fringe.

Examples of people in the New Testament who were practically righteous before they got saved.

The disciples of John the Baptist who were led to Christ by Paul.

Acts 19:1-7 “And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.”

We know that these disciples of John the Baptist had already repented of their sins. John the Baptist refused to baptize anyone who was not repentant.

Matthew 3:4-10 “And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”

The disciples of John were devout and faithful to the truths that they knew. They were not doing any of those evil sins listed above, nor were they overtaken by any sin. Yes, they were still sinners in that they still had a sin nature and made mistakes as all people (even saved people) do, but these men were as practically righteous as Job. They just needed to accept Jesus, and when they heard about Jesus, they did accept Him, and got saved.

Matthew 3:4-10 also shows that a person cannot just come to God “as they are” and “empty handed” they must have a repentant heart! They must bring a repentant and yielding heart to God!

Nowhere does the Bible say to come to God just as you are! It is not in there! I looked!

Cornelius was practically righteous before he got saved.

He just needed to accept Jesus. He did not even say a prayer, you do not have to say a prayer in order to get saved, and just saying a prayer does not save you!

Salvation is a decision and a commitment to Christ, not an incantation!

Acts 10:1-2 “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.”

Acts 10:44-48 “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”

The Ethiopian Eunuch was practically righteous before he got saved. He just needed to accept Jesus.

Acts 8:27-39 “And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”

This is what the Bible says!

So, a person can be lost and not do any really bad sins, or even be overtaken by any sin. Some people just need to accept Jesus, and yes, Jesus wants to save those people too!

Many other people are in really bad sins before they get saved and Jesus will save them too!

Everyone must come to Him with a repentant and yielding heart!

God is willing to save anyone.

The only thing that is going to stop anyone from getting saved is their own foolish pride. Pride is the only thing that can prevent anyone from finding repentance. Having feelings or not having feelings does not matter.

That was Esau’s problem. Esau found no place for repentance, though he sought carefully for it with tears (Hebrews 12:17). It is not that God would not save him, it was that he could not force his heart to relinquish his pride and repent and accept God’s will.

See the promise of Israel was to Abraham, then to Isaac. Then Isaac had 2 sons. God said that the older would serve the younger, not that the older would be completely disinherited.

From Adam all the way down to Isaac there was always one man who was the rightful High Priest and King. When it came to Abraham God made a covenant with Abraham that those offices would continue through his line.

Isaac had 2 sons. All God was saying by that the older would serve the younger was that God had chosen Jacob (the younger) to be the King and Esau (the older) to be the High Priest. The Bible even says in Hebrews 12:17 that Esau would have received the blessing, but he refused to repent.Esau was proud and power hungry. He wanted to be the King not the High Priest. He despised the priesthood. Therefore, God cut him off, and the kingship and priesthood was given to two of Jacob’s sons: Judah and Levi, and Esau was cut off because of his own foolish pride.

However, God still commanded Israel to allow an Edomite family to join the congregation in the 3rd generation (Deuteronomy 23:7-8). So, there was a restoring available to Esau’s descendants, but they could never be restored to the priesthood. That was lost to them forever.

God will never refuse to save anyone, but a person can refuse to repent.

If a person falls into any of those certain sins listed above, or if they are overtaken by any sin, then they were never saved!

That is the Word of God! And if you from this day forward teach or preach anything else then you have gone apostate, because you are willingly teaching a damnable heresy, and that would prove that you have never been saved!

A saved person can be misled into a damnable heresy, but once they realize their mistake then they will repent. A person who does not repent shows they have never been saved.

In addition, The Bible also says that we are not to receive people into our house (also meaning church because it can be figurative Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible with Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries # G3614) who preach that a saved person can fall into any sin that a lost person can commit.

2 John 1:9-11 “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

(2 John 1:9 also shows that the only people in the Parable of the Sower who got saved were the “good ground” because they were the only ones who kept abiding in the doctrine of Christ; see Matthew 13:3-23.)

You need to search your own heart and make sure you are saved.

As I just got done explaining with much Scripture, if you have ever done any of those sins listed above since you made your profession of faith, then you did not truly get saved, and you need to get saved now.

So, search your heart (2 Corinthians 13:5), ask God if you have ever fallen into any of those sins or if you have ever been overtaken by any sin since your profession, if you find that you have, or if you just are not sure, then just go ahead and make a new commitment to Christ right now. That is all you need to do.

If you find that the Holy Spirit has kept you and you have not ever fallen into any of those sins, nor have ever been overtaken by any sin since your profession of faith, then you are truly saved, and you can rejoice in the fact that you can never fall into any of those sins!

Either way, make sure you teach others these truths for now on. And speak to your family and friends make sure they are truly saved too.

If you know anyone who has fallen into any of those sins, go warn them that they need to get saved. They are on their way to Hell, they are not just backslidden.

In addition, nowhere in the Bible does it say that if a person doubts their salvation, then they are saved!

That is another damnable heresy from the pits of Hell, that is sending people to Hell!

The Bible commands everybody to doubt their salvation in order that they will get saved, if they are not!

2 Corinthians 13:5a “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.”

As I said before, it is also very clear that people can deceive themselves into thinking they are saved. Galations 6:1-8.

Therefore, a person doubting their salvation could be God drawing them to true salvation!

And a wolf preaching that doubting proves salvation, is going to cause the person doubting to not get saved and end up in the flames of eternal Hell!

Furthermore, God will remind someone of their sins if they are lost, even if they have deceived themselves into thinking they are saved, in order to convince them that they need to get saved!

Remember, a saved person does not have to work at not doing those really evil sins.

When a person truly repents and makes a true commitment to Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit just comes in and makes it impossible for them to fall that bad. The Holy Spirit puts a love for God in our hearts and makes us want to please God and not do anything to displease Him. If we just simply love God with all of our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves then it we obey all of God’s commandments. (Matthew 22:36-40)

James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” This is speaking of Hell, not physical death.
