What Is God’s Will For Your Life?

How to Know God's Will

Many people struggle to know God’s will for their life, but God’s will is not hidden. Many of the things that God wants you to do is plainly written in the Bible, and once you are faithful in doing these things, then God will show you His specific will for your life.

Ephesians 5:17 “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”

Below I have listed a few things that the Bible says is God’s will for everyone’s life:

It is God’s will for you to be saved and baptized.

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” This verse shows it is God’s will for you to be saved.

Furthermore, baptism is our first act of obedience to God.

Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

It is God’s will for you to read your Bible and pray every day.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

It is God’s will for you to go to  church and give.

Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

It is God’s will for you to be in every church service that you can.

1 Corinthians 16:2 “Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

It is God’s will for you need to tell other people about Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

You can do this very easily by giving Gospel tracts to people. Just make sure the Gospel tract includes the whole Gospel properly, including repentance. A lot of Gospel tracts (even those from churches that teach repentance) fail to say anything about repentance. I always read a new Gospel tract very carefully, before I give it to someone, because that person’s blood is on my hands if I fail to give them the Gospel correctly.

You also need to be sincerely trying to not do things that you know are wrong.

Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

After you are consistently obeying all of these commands, then you start earnestly praying that God shows you His will for your life, and He will show it to you. You will know, when God shows it to you.

Luke 11:9-10 “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
